Terms of Service
Effective 5 November 2026
1. About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Ustek RFID Elektronik Yazılım A.Ş. ("Ustek", "we", "us"), IDOSB Apre Sok. No:9, Tuzla 34956 Istanbul, Türkiye, Tuzla Tax Office, tax number 8960977691. They apply to the Alcove apps for macOS and Linux ("Alcove") and to this website. By installing or using Alcove you accept these terms. If you use Alcove on behalf of an organization, you accept them for that organization.
2. What Alcove does
Alcove shows your Google Drive in your computer's file manager and keeps the two in sync. It runs on your computer and connects directly to Google; we do not operate a service that stores or relays your files. How Alcove handles data is described in the Privacy Policy.
3. Early access
Alcove is in early access. Features may change, be added or be removed, and we may stop providing early access builds at any time. We appreciate reports of problems at [email protected].
4. Your license
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Alcove on computers you own or control, for your personal use or your organization's internal use, in line with these terms. You may not:
- sell, rent, sublicense or redistribute Alcove;
- reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble Alcove, except where the law allows this despite this restriction;
- remove or alter any notices of ownership in Alcove;
- use Alcove to build a competing product.
Alcove, including its name, logo and software, remains the property of Ustek. These terms give you no rights beyond the license above.
5. Your Google account
To use Alcove you need a Google account, and you sign in with Google. Your use of Google Drive remains subject to Google's own terms and policies. Alcove is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Google. Google may change or limit the services Alcove relies on, which may affect or end some of Alcove's features; we are not responsible for Google's services.
You are responsible for your Google account and for keeping your computer secure, since anyone with access to your user account on your computer can open your Drive through Alcove.
6. Your files
Your files remain yours. Alcove accesses them only on your computer and only to provide its features. We do not receive, store or claim any rights to your files.
7. Acceptable use
You agree to use Alcove only lawfully and not to use it to:
- violate Google's terms or policies, or anyone else's rights;
- access accounts or files you are not authorized to access;
- interfere with, overload or abuse Google's services.
8. Syncing and backups
Alcove carries the changes you make in your file manager over to your Google Drive: saving, renaming, moving and deleting files there does the same in Drive (deleted items go to Drive's trash). When a file changed on Drive while you were editing it, Alcove keeps both versions. Even so, software can fail, and syncing can lose or overwrite data in rare situations. Keep backups of files that matter to you.
9. Updates
We may release updates to fix problems, improve security or change features. Some updates may be needed to keep Alcove working with Google's services.
10. No warranty
To the extent permitted by law, Alcove is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that Alcove will be uninterrupted, error-free or compatible with every system.
11. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Ustek is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data, profits or business, arising from your use of Alcove. Our total liability for any claim relating to Alcove is limited to the amount you paid us for Alcove in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability for intent or gross negligence, or any liability that cannot be limited by law.
12. Ending use
You can stop using Alcove at any time by removing your accounts and uninstalling it; see the Privacy Policy for how to also withdraw Google's permission. We may end your license if you breach these terms. Sections 6 and 10 to 14 continue to apply after your use ends.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will post the new version on this page with a new effective date. If you keep using Alcove after a change takes effect, the new terms apply; if you do not agree, stop using Alcove.
14. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye. The courts and enforcement offices of Istanbul (Anadolu) have jurisdiction over disputes. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and nothing in these terms limits your right to apply to consumer arbitration committees or consumer courts.
